Who is God? It is a question that every one of us confronts at some point in our lives. Somehow trying to settle the issue, we do any number of things. Some turn to religion for an agreed upon concept of who God is. Many others reject the standard religions of the world and instead construct their own god based upon who they want Him to be. Still others would like to think that there is no God at all. Yet none of these options answers the question of who God really is. Why, even after we have arrived at what we thought to be an answer, are we still not assured that we know Him? There are countless ideas concerning God. But if there is a God—and there is—surely He is immutable; He cannot change according to people's conflicting notions of Him. God is who He is. Yet how can we ever know who He is?

This edition of Generation addresses this universal question. There is a way to know God. If we approach the Bible not according to tradition, but from God's view, we will find that in it, He reveals Himself in a detailed and precise way. What we present in these pages is not just another human conception of the existence and identity of God; it is a presentation of the person of God according to the revelation of God Himself as revealed in His Word. We are confident that not only will this agonizing question be answered, but that the way to God will be made clear and access to Him laid open.
