An Encounter

Christ cares for the relief of the suffering one rather than for the ritual of religion. To Him, religious regulations do not matter; the healing of humanity means everything. In His word is the enlivening life.

"And He entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there who had a withered hand. And they were watching Him closely to see if He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him. And He said to the man who had the withered hand,

Rise and stand in the midst.

And He said to them,

Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?

But they remained silent. And looking around at them with anger and being greatly grieved with the hardness of their heart, He said to the man,

Stretch out your hand.

And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored. And the Pharisees went out and immediately took counsel...against Him as to how they might destroy Him" (Mark 3:1-6)
