Do not let your heart be troubled; believe into God, believe also into Me (John 14:1). According to a recent survey by Life magazine, 96% of Americans believe in God and 79% of Americans pray to Him. 80% of Americans believe in an afterlife and 56% believe in hell. (Life, December 1998)

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork (Psalm 19:1, ASV). The Sun radiates at a staggering 5,700 degrees Celsius at its surface. If the earth were to come ten percent closer to the sun, all living things on the earth would be scorched. If the earth were to move ten percent further away from the sun, all living entities would be frozen.

I am awesomely and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, and my soul knows it well (Psalm 139:14, RcV). The human heart pumps 72 times a minute and 40 million times a year. During the average person's lifetime, it will pump almost 3 billion times. Every day, the heart pumps blood through 100,000 miles of blood vessels (enough to travel around the world four times), and pumps enough blood to fill a 2,000 gallon container.

For no prophecy was ever borne by the will of man, but men spoke from God while being borne by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21). According to ancient Greek mythology, the heavens were held up by a giant called Atlas. Indian writings speculated that the earth was a square which was held up by four fish. But 2,200 years before Christopher Columbus made his famous voyage leading to the acceptance that the earth is round, the Bible stated that the earth is a circle (Isaiah 40:22) and that it hangs upon nothing (Job 26:7).

Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out through the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). A Life magazine special edition recently ranked the one hundred most significant events to occur over the last millenium. Life concluded that the single most important event that took place over the last 1,000 years was Johann Gutenberg's printing of the Bible in 1456. Since 1815, an estimated 2.5 billion copies of the Bible have been sold or distributed and Biblical excerpts have been translated into 2,197 languages. The Bible is by far the best selling book in human history.
